Description

A savory and satisfying Cheddar and Bacon Turkey Melt Sandwich combining thinly sliced turkey breast, crispy bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and optional fresh additions like leafy greens and avocado. Grilled on a buttery toasted sturdy bread for a melty, crispy finish, this sandwich balances rich flavors with a hint of spice if desired.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 4-6 oz thinly sliced cooked turkey breast
  • 4 strips crispy bacon
  • 2-3 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices sturdy sandwich bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or rye)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for spreading)
  • Mustard or mayonnaise (to taste)
  • A few leaves leafy greens (lettuce or spinach)
  • Sliced avocado (optional)
  • Jalapeños or chipotle mayo (optional, for spicy kick)

Instructions

  1. Cook Bacon and Prepare Ingredients: Cook bacon strips until crispy, then drain on paper towels to remove excess grease. Slice sharp cheddar cheese if not pre-sliced and have turkey breast slices ready. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat to prepare for grilling the sandwich.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich: Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer the turkey breast, crispy bacon, and cheddar cheese. Add optional mustard or mayonnaise along with leafy greens, sliced avocado, or jalapeños/chipotle mayo if using. Top with the second bread slice, buttered side facing out.
  3. Grill the Sandwich: Place the assembled sandwich on the heated skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bread side on the skillet is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwich to the other side and continue cooking until the cheddar cheese is melted and the bread is toasted evenly on both sides.
  4. Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet. Slice diagonally for a classic presentation and serve immediately to enjoy the warm, melty cheddar and crispy bacon paired with juicy turkey slices.

Notes

  • Use sturdy bread like sourdough, whole wheat, or rye to prevent sogginess.
  • Adjust the number of bacon strips and cheddar slices to your preference for a more hearty sandwich.
  • Optional toppings like leafy greens and avocado add freshness and texture.
  • For a spicier version, add jalapeños or chipotle mayo as a flavorful kick.
  • Butter both sides of the bread for extra crispiness and golden grilling.
  • Serve hot for the best melty cheese experience.
