Description

This Cilantro Lime Honey Garlic Salmon is a flavorful, healthy dish that combines juicy salmon fillets with a zesty and sweet sauce made from fresh cilantro, lime juice, honey, and garlic. Baked in foil packets, the salmon retains its moisture and absorbs the vibrant flavors, resulting in a tender, aromatic meal perfect for an easy weeknight dinner or special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Other

  • 4 sheets of aluminum foil (large enough to wrap the salmon)
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the salmon.
  2. Prepare Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, honey, lime juice, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, cumin (if using), salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Assemble Salmon: Place each salmon fillet on an individual sheet of aluminum foil. Drizzle the cilantro lime honey garlic sauce evenly over each fillet.
  4. Create Foil Packets: Fold the sides of the foil up around the salmon to create sealed packets, ensuring the sauce is enclosed to keep the salmon moist while baking.
  5. Bake: Arrange the foil packets on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Open Packets: Carefully remove the packets from the oven and cautiously open the foil to avoid steam burns.
  7. Serve: Serve the salmon hot, garnished with extra fresh cilantro and lime wedges alongside your choice of side dishes.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle extra fresh cilantro on top before serving.
  • Ensure the foil packets are tightly sealed to keep the steam inside and cook the salmon evenly.
  • If you do not have fresh cilantro, fresh parsley can be used as a substitute, though the flavor will be different.
  • The ground cumin is optional but adds a warm, earthy flavor to complement the citrus and garlic.
  • Adjust baking time depending on the thickness of salmon fillets to avoid overcooking.
