Description

Delicious Maple BBQ Hasselback Kielbasa Bites featuring juicy kielbasa sausage slices baked to perfection with a sweet and tangy maple BBQ glaze, enhanced with Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and smoky spices. Perfect as a flavorful appetizer or snack for gatherings and parties.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 1 lb kielbasa sausage

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease clean-up.
  2. Prepare the Kielbasa: Slice the kielbasa into 1-inch thick rounds. Then, make several shallow cuts across each slice in Hasselback style, being careful not to cut all the way through to keep the slices intact.
  3. Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Glaze the Kielbasa: Arrange the kielbasa slices on the prepared baking sheet and brush each piece generously with the maple BBQ glaze, making sure to get some of the glaze into the shallow cuts for maximum flavor infusion.
  5. Bake the Kielbasa: Bake the slices for 15-20 minutes, or until the kielbasa is heated through and slightly crispy around the edges. Halfway through baking, baste the kielbasa with more glaze to keep the bites moist and flavorful.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven, optionally garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm as a tasty appetizer or snack that’s sure to impress your guests.

Notes

  • Make sure not to slice all the way through the kielbasa to maintain the Hasselback effect.
  • You can substitute the BBQ sauce with your favorite brand or homemade version for different flavor profiles.
  • Use parchment paper for easier cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  • Garnishing with fresh parsley adds a bright, fresh note but is optional.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled for larger crowds.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
