Description

Delicious pan-fried cheese potato bread featuring a crispy golden exterior with a gooey mozzarella cheese center. This Asian-inspired snack blends soft mashed potatoes with flavorful seasonings, then stuffed with cheese and pan-fried to perfection. Ideal as a savory treat or appetizer, it’s quick and easy to prepare on the stovetop.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and flour. Mix until you get a soft, non-sticky dough consistency.
  2. Divide and Shape: Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a round disc approximately 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Stuff with Cheese: Place a few tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese in the center of each disc. Fold the edges over to fully seal, forming a dough ball to trap the cheese inside.
  4. Form Patties: Gently flatten each cheese-filled dough ball into a thick pancake shape without breaking the seal.
  5. Pan-Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Carefully place each bread in the skillet and fry for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve: Remove from the skillet and serve hot. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired for added flavor and color.

Notes

  • Substitute mozzarella with cheddar or a cheese blend for varied flavors.
  • Ensure edges are sealed tightly to prevent cheese leakage during frying.
  • Best served fresh but can be reheated in a pan to regain crispiness.
