Description

A flavorful and quick Spicy Garlic Shrimp Noodles recipe that brings together succulent shrimp, a savory and spicy sauce, and perfectly cooked noodles for a delicious meal ready in just 25 minutes. Ideal for a weeknight dinner packed with bold Asian-inspired flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Noodles

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz noodles (spaghetti, rice noodles, or your choice)

Sauce and Seasonings

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili paste or Sriracha (adjust for heat level)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)

Garnishes

  • Chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Cook the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain them thoroughly and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Sauté garlic: Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
  3. Cook the shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside to prevent overcooking.
  4. Prepare the sauce: In the same skillet, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, chili paste or Sriracha, sugar, sesame oil, water, and rice vinegar. Stir well and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  5. Toss noodles and shrimp: Add the cooked noodles back into the skillet with the sauce, tossing to coat them thoroughly. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss everything together for another 1-2 minutes until heated through and evenly coated with the sauce.
  6. Add heat and garnish: Sprinkle red pepper flakes over the noodles if you want extra heat. Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro as desired.
  7. Serve: Serve the spicy garlic shrimp noodles immediately while hot and enjoy a flavorful, quick meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute the shrimp with chicken or tofu for different protein options.
  • Adjust the chili paste or Sriracha amount to control the spiciness level.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce to make this recipe gluten-free friendly.
  • If you prefer, you can use rice noodles, spaghetti, or any noodle of your choice.
  • For added texture, toss in some stir-fried vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas.
