Description

This Spicy Ground Beef Taco Ring is a delicious and visually appealing dish perfect for parties or family dinners. Ground beef is seasoned with taco spices, cooked with onion and garlic, then layered on crescent roll dough with melted cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses. Baked until golden, this taco ring is garnished with fresh tomatoes, olives, and cilantro, served with sour cream and salsa for a flavorful Mexican-American main course or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning or 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Optional Garnishes

  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • Sour cream, for serving
  • Salsa, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook Ground Beef Mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and finely chopped onion for 5 to 7 minutes until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat. Stir in minced garlic, taco seasoning, and 1/4 cup of water, then simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  3. Form the Taco Ring Base: On a lightly floured surface, unroll the crescent roll dough. Arrange the dough triangles in a ring shape with the points facing outward to create a sunburst pattern.
  4. Add Filling and Cheese: Evenly spoon the cooked beef mixture over the wide ends of the crescent dough triangles. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the beef.
  5. Fold and Seal the Dough: Fold the pointed ends of the dough over the filling toward the center of the ring, pressing gently to seal the dough edges and enclose the filling.
  6. Bake the Taco Ring: Place the ring on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with diced tomatoes, sliced black olives, and chopped fresh cilantro if desired. Serve warm with sour cream and salsa.

Notes

  • Customize the filling by adding beans, corn, or jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.
  • This taco ring makes an excellent party appetizer or a fun family dinner option.
  • Ensure to drain excess grease from the cooked beef to avoid soggy dough.
  • If you prefer a milder flavor, adjust the taco seasoning amount accordingly.
