Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 (10 oz) bag marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup crushed dried strawberries
For Topping
- 1 cup pink candy melts
- 1 cup white candy melts (reserve ½ cup)
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil or Paramount crystals
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan thoroughly to prevent the mixture from sticking, and set it aside for later use.
- Melt marshmallows and butter: In a large bowl, combine the marshmallows and unsalted butter. Heat the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the marshmallows become puffed and fully melted, creating a smooth base.
- Mix with cereal and strawberries: Add the Rice Krispies cereal and crushed dried strawberries to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir thoroughly until all the cereal and strawberries are evenly coated with the marshmallow.
- Press into pan: Transfer the combined mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula or your hands (lightly greased) to press it down evenly, forming a flat, compact layer.
- Melt pink candy melts: In a small bowl, melt the pink candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring between each to ensure a smooth, even consistency without burning.
- Pour pink chocolate over treats: Pour the melted pink candy melts evenly over the Rice Krispies layer. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it into a smooth, even coating.
- Melt white candy melts: Using the same small bowl, melt the reserved ½ cup of white candy melts along with coconut oil or Paramount crystals in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth and pourable.
- Pipe white design: Transfer the melted white candy melts into a piping bag fitted with a small tip. Pipe horizontal lines evenly spaced over the pink candy melt layer to create the base of the design.
- Create diamond pattern: Use a skewer or toothpick to draw vertical lines through the horizontal lines, connecting them to form an elegant diamond pattern across the top.
- Chill and serve: Place the finished treats in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the candy layers to set properly. Once firm, cut into squares and serve for a pretty and delicious treat.
Notes
- Use parchment paper or lightly grease your spatula/hands to avoid sticking while pressing the mixture into the pan.
- Be careful when melting candy melts to avoid overheating, which can cause them to seize.
- You can substitute dried strawberries with freeze-dried for extra crunch.
- Store these treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best freshness.
- Paramount crystals help thin candy melts, but coconut oil is a good substitute if unavailable.
