Ingredients
Scale
Burger Patties
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For Cooking
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
To Serve
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce
- Tomato slices
- Condiments as desired
Instructions
- Prepare the mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, finely chopped fresh spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, minced garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to avoid making the patties tough.
- Form patties: Shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties and place them on a parchment-lined plate. Chill the patties in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to help them firm up and hold their shape during cooking.
- Cook the patties: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chilled patties and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the outsides are nicely golden brown.
- Toast buns: While the patties are cooking or right after, toast the burger buns lightly if desired to enhance texture and flavor.
- Assemble burgers: Place the cooked chicken patties on the burger buns and top with lettuce, tomato slices, and your favorite condiments. Serve the burgers warm for the best taste.
Notes
- You can use either pre-shredded or block white cheddar cheese shredded fresh for better texture.
- For extra juiciness, add a tablespoon of mayonnaise to the chicken mixture before forming the patties.
- These patties also grill well when cooked on a well-oiled grill grate for a smoky flavor.
- To keep the recipe gluten-free, ensure you use gluten-free breadcrumbs and buns.
